Part of our winterizing at Whispering Spirit Alpacas is erecting the cat tent. Yep you heard me, the cat tent. Danita Coulter, who is our very able manager of the barn and everything in it, discovered last year when it got VERY cold in the barn our gaggle of cats love to cuddle and snuggle in the tent pictured here. If you did not know this important cat rule before, you do now.
As the cold has settled in here, Danita scrambled up on top of the stacked hay and got the tent up. And the cats immediately moved in. When I went out to take this photo I found Scamper asleep in the tent but he immediately came out and was ready for petting and purring.
And Danita, who is the pied piper of this ranch, has a gaggle of happy cats. And dogs. And alpacas. And people.
Our five cats are part of the ranch family. Abbott (who came with a side kick we named Costello, who alas disappeared), Pan, Pretty Boy, Scamper, and Callie help keep the barn free of mice and other varmints. And the Great Pyrenees include cat cuddling and protection in their list of chores. We are hoping Atticus doesn’t try to get into the cat tent…
Thanks Danita! We could not do it without you and all your creative ideas!
‘Til next time. Sandy
